Head of Lao State Audit Organisation welcomed in Hanoi

VOV.VN - National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong hosted a reception for President of the State Audit Organisation (SAO) of Laos Viengthong Siphandone in Hanoi on January 8, during which she congratulated the SAO on its tremendous achievements over recent years with its rising stature and better apparatus.

The SAO delegation’s working visit to Vietnam will help foster the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations, including between the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) and the SAO.

Apart from improving the efficiency of financial audit, the SAV will step up auditing and evaluating the implementation of key national programs and projects, NA resolutions, and policies regarding the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, Phong told her guest.

She suggested two audit agencies should intensify experience sharing and expand different forms and fields of cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral aspects.

For her part, Siphandone applauded the SAV’s support and assistance to the SAO over the years, as well as effective bilateral coordination, particularly in personnel training.

She voiced her hope that the two sides will augment all-around cooperation with a particular focus on exchanging experts and training auditors in the time ahead.

At a conference the same day in Hanoi to review the collaboration between the two audit agencies in 2018, Auditor General Ho Duc Phoc assured the SAV's desire to boost cooperation with its Lao counterpart to reap more substantial outcomes in the future.

Last year, the two sides jointly carried out a number of practical programs as a contribution to building strong and transparent finances in the respective countries.

The SAO President extolled Vietnam's assistance in building a system of legal documents and Law on State Audit for Laos, as well as human resource training.

She used this occasion to present the Lao Party and State’s orders to individuals who made considerable contributions to the sound and sustainable cooperation between the two audit agencies over the years.
