HCM City keen to ram up all-around cooperation with Denmark

VOV.VN - Phan Van Mai, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, suggested stepping up co-operation with Denmark in energy transition and restructuring industries as a means of moving towards high-added value, green, and sustainable development, during a reception held on March 6 for Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz.

During the meeting, the municipal leader showed his elation at the fruitful results of ties between the two countries, saying a green development co-operation agreement which is about to be signed is not only suitable for the development trend of the world, but also appropriate to developing countries such as Vietnam.

Outlining that total two-way trade turnover and investment of Danish investors in the southern city is still not commensurate with the potential and strengths that exists between the two sides, Mai wanted is keen to promote co-operation in the fields of investment and trade.

He also underlined the importance of boosting collaboration in terms of training and technology transfer as a means of preparing human resources for industries that require high-quality human resources to serve the green development strategy.

In response, Ambassador Prytz said that Denmark has now established green strategic partnerships with some countries, including India, the Republic of Korea, and South Africa. Denmark therefore hopes to swiftly build a similar co-operative relationship with Vietnam because the Southeast Asian country boasts a lot of potential and has ambitions to transform energy in a more sustainable direction, he said.

During the course of the meeting, the two sides also consented to making every effort to further enhance their relationship and effectively utilising their advantages.
