HCM City expects stronger ties with Cambodian localities

VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City greatly values and tries its utmost to boost ties with Cambodian localities, including the capital city of Phnom Penh as a contribution to propelling Vietnam-Cambodia relations forward.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan made the statement on November 8, while congratulating Cambodian Consul General in HCM City Chan Sorykan on the 70th anniversary of Cambodia's Independence Day (November 9, 1953 - 2023).

On behalf of municipal leaders, Hoan congratulated Cambodia on its achievements recorded under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Chairman Samdech Techo Hun Sen and new Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.

He said he believes that Cambodia and its people will continue to gain greater achievements and become more prosperous in the time ahead.

To carry out the directions of the Party and State leaders on developing bilateral relations, the southern metropolis pledges to enhancing cooperative relations with Cambodian localities and accelerating specific cooperation projects, thus bringing practical benefits to both sides and contributing to localities’ socio-economic development.

In response, Cambodian Consul General in HCM City Chan Sorykan said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of Cambodia's Independence Day and the 56th anniversary both nations’ diplomatic ties (1967-2023).

Hailing the role of HCM City in relations between the two countries, the Cambodian official pledged  his best during his term to beef up cooperation between Cambodia and southern localities of Vietnam, particularly HCM City towards stronger development of the Cambodia - Vietnam traditional friendship and all-around cooperation.
