HCM City celebrates Cambodia’s Independence Day
VOV.VN - The 71st anniversary of Cambodia's Independence Day (1953 - 2024) was celebrated by the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA)'s chapter in Ho Chi Minh City on November 9.
In his address, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, Commander of the HCM City High Command and President of the VCFA's HCM City chapter, said that the people of Ho Chi Minh City always places importance on and make positive contributions to the traditional friendship and all-around cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Applauding the close-knit relations between the two nations, he said that the leaders and citizens of both nations are working hard to further promote their bilateral ties for the benefit of their people as well as for regional and global peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
Cambodian Consul General in HCM City Chan Sorykan showed his satisfaction with the robust growth of the Cambodia-Vietnam relationship, noting that last year’s two-way trade hit close to US$12 billion, making Vietnam Cambodia's third-largest trading partner globally and largest within ASEAN.
The two countries have progressed across various fields such as diplomacy, politics, social affairs, and people-to-people exchange in the spirit of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability,” he said.
The Consulate General of Cambodia in HCM City will continue to reinforce the traditional relations and support the promotion of economic, trade, and investment cooperation for higher growth in 2024 and beyond, the diplomat said.
