Hanoi seeks closer co-operation with Singaporean partners

VOV.VN - Hanoi remains keen to intensify existing co-operation activities and expand ties with Singapore in new areas, Dinh Tien Dung, secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi, told visiting Singaporean President Halimah Yacob at a meeting on October 18.

Moving forward, the capital expects to ramp up co-operation with Singapore in the spheres of urban planning and management, finance, health care, travel, smart city development, e-government, and environmental protection, Dung said.

In response, President Halimah expressed how impressed she is of Hanoi’s development achievements, saying the Vietnamese capital should focus on green development, especially the preservation of historical and cultural values.

She highly values the efforts of municipal authorities in conserve heritage in association with tourism development, expressing her hope that Hanoi will share experience with Singapore in this regard.

The Singaporean leader therefore suggested that Hanoi move to further ramp up education-training co-operation with her country, calling on municipal authorities to further support Singaporean businesses operating in the capital.

The Hanoi official responded by saying he agrees with the Singaporean leader’s co-operation proposals.
