Hanoi and French region sign joint action programme

VOV.VN - Hanoi and France’s Ile-de-France region inked a joint action programme for the 2022 to 2025 period during a virtual meeting held on February 16 between their joint committee for bilateral co-operation.

Upon addressing the event, Le Hong Son, permanent vice chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said the event aims to review co-operation outcomes during 2018 to 2021 and discuss orientations for the ties between 2022 and 2025 in a bid to reinforce their 33-year traditional friendship.

He went on to affirm that Hanoi remains appreciative of its comprehensive, effective, and long-term partnership with the French region.

Furthermore, the Vietnamese capital is keen to further team up with the region in the fields of urban planning and management, environment protection, air pollution control, heritage conservation, and tourism development, among others. 

Anne-Louise Mesadieu, regional councilor for Ile-de-France, noted that bilateral relations are effective and have set a model for co-operation between localities, with both sides capitalizing on each other’s strengths for additional benefits in many fields ranging from economics and culture to society. 

In line with a report showcased at the meeting, of 19 joint projects earmarked for the 2018 to 2021 period, 10 were successfully implemented; six have faced temporary difficulties due to COVID-19; and three could not be launched as a result of changes in the two localities’ development strategies.

The meeting also saw the sides symbolically exchange their signed documents of the joint action programme for the 2022 to 2025 period.
