Guangxi, Vietnamese localities boost mutually beneficial ties
VOV.VN - Guangxi and Vietnamese localities are urged to uphold high-level common perceptions, foster exchanges, and effectively advance cooperation in key areas, including trade, infrastructure, technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI).

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam hosted a reception on February 18 in Hanoi for Chen Gang, member of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Regional People’s Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China), who is on a visit to Vietnam.
Welcoming Chen Gang’s visit to Vietnam soon after assuming the position of Guangxi Party Secretary, To Lam congratulated China on its tremendous and comprehensive achievements since the 20th National Party Congress.
He reaffirmed that Vietnam consistently considers the development of relations with China an objective necessity, a strategic choice, and a top priority in its independent, self-reliant, and multilateral foreign policy. He expressed confidence that, under the strategic direction and leadership of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping as the core, and under the leadership of Secretary Chen Gang, the Guangxi Party Committee, government, and people will continue to achieve great accomplishments, building a prosperous and developed Guangxi with improved living standards for its people.
Emphasizing Guangxi’s deep-rooted ties with Vietnam, To Lam greatly valued Guangxi’s pioneering role in promoting friendly and practical cooperation with Vietnam. He welcomed the effective implementation of the Spring Meeting program between provincial Party Secretaries from both sides and supported the innovative idea of inviting Hai Phong City to join this annual mechanism.
Regarding future cooperation, To Lam urged Guangxi and Vietnamese localities to closely follow high-level common perceptions, intensify friendly exchanges and mutual understanding, and effectively implement mutually beneficial cooperation in key areas, particularly in economy-trade, infrastructure, science and technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI). He called for the acceleration of a pilot smart border gate model to facilitate goods clearance, especially for Vietnam’s agricultural exports to China, as well as cooperation in effective land border management.
The Vietnamese Party chief also expressed his hope that both sides would work together to successfully organize the “Vietnam-China People-to-People Exchange Year 2025” to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and enhance people-to-people exchanges across multiple fields.
For his part, Chen Gang emphasized that Vietnam is a close and important neighbor and a top priority partner for Guangxi. He affirmed that the Guangxi Party Committee and government, along with himself personally, highly value the friendship and cooperation with Vietnamese localities. Guangxi will continue to take the lead in comprehensively and effectively implementing the highest-level common perceptions of the two Parties and countries, further deepening the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future of strategic significance.
Chen Gang expressed his desire to further promote key areas of cooperation, including strengthening exchanges and delegation visits at all levels, expanding mutually beneficial collaboration in trade, investment, education, and science and technology, particularly in AI and big data development. He also underscored the need to speed up the construction of pilot smart border gates, boost road and rail connectivity, facilitate trade and travel between China, Vietnam, and ASEAN member states, foster people-to-people exchanges, mutual understanding and friendship between Guangxi and Vietnamese localities.
