Government chief underlines effectively exploiting growth drivers
VOV.VN - It remains imperative to devise solutions to effectively exploit new growth drivers such as promoting the digital economy, the green economy, the circular economy, and innovation, whilst also creating jobs and livelihoods for people, along with dealing with production chain breaks and engaging in more deeply in the global supply chain.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the statement while chairing a regular monthly cabinet meeting on February 1 in Hanoi which evaluated the socio-economic situation in January, as well as the allocation and disbursement of public investment capital and the implementation of 03 National Target Program.
In his speech, the Vietnamese Government leader pointed out current instability in the world situation, particularly with regard to conflicts and the link with global trade, whilst issues such as natural disasters, storms, floods, and climate change continue to be complicated.
Domestically, on the back momentum of recovery and development in 2023, a broad array of important economic, political, social, and foreign events took place such as extraordinary meetings of the Party Central Committee and the National Assembly (NA).
Under the leadership of the Party, the companionship of the NA, and the participation of the entire political system, people, and businesses, the socio-economic situation in January continued to achieve positive and remarkable results, with macroeconomic stability, controlled inflation, and ensured major economic balances.
The agricultural, industrial, and service sectors all showed many positive signs from the first month of the year, while development investment continued to obtain positive results.
Planning and national digital transformation continued to be promoted; greater attention was given to cultural and social fields; people's lives continued to be improved, coupled with political, social, defence, and security stability and strengthened foreign affairs.
PM Chinh said that on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) (1930 - 2024), Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had just published an article entitled "Pride and trust". Under the glorious flag of the Party, the nation is determined to build an increasingly rich, strong, civilized, and heroic country.
Regarding the tasks in February and for the future, the PM asked cabinet members to discuss and evaluate the situation and lessons learned, especially in direction, administration, and policy response.
In addition, the Vietnamese Government leader underscored the need to spur the development of socio-cultural fields, ensure security and national defence, enhance foreign relations, whilst also focusing on maximizing the exploitation of resources that groups and corporations are holding.
He also emphasized celebrating Tet in a joyful, healthily, and economical manner to ensure that everyone and every family can enjoy a warm Tet, with no one being left behind.
