Gathering marks Vietnam- Uzbekistan diplomatic ties
VOV.VN - A friendship gathering was held virtually alongside Uzbekistan friends by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) on April 28 to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties which began in 1992.
The event is also being held for the purpose of celebrating the 47th anniversary of the Liberation of southern Vietnam and National Reunification which occurred in 1975.
In his speech at the function, Nguyen Van Doanh, vice president of the VUFO, highlighted the major progress made in the mutual relations over the past three decades across a variety of spheres, including the economy, trade, science-technology, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
The two countries have constantly been able to maintain and develop a mutually-beneficial partnership, as well as making major economic achievements, particularly demonstrated by their success in sustaining positive growth in the past two years despite facing the negative impact of COVID-19.
He went on to underline growing political ties with a number of high-level delegation exchanges, strengthened co-operation at multilateral forums, and mutual support for each other at the UN. These have helped both sides to consolidate political trust and deepen mutual understanding, which in turn lays a strong foundation for the expansion of bilateral partnership in economics, trade, investment, and other fields, he noted.
The Vietnam-Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan-Vietnam Friendship Associations have jointly hosted many meaningful activities, such as the celebration of each country’s National Day, business matching events, photo exhibitions, and writing competitions to explore Uzbekistan’s nature, culture, and people, he added.
Valeriy N.Tian, vice president of Uzbekistan’s committee on relations between nationalities and international co-operation, congratulated Vietnam on the 47th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
He went on to expressed his hope that the two friendship organisations will promote people-to-people exchanges as a way of ramping up bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of agriculture, textile-garments, healthcare, culture, tourism, and labour moving forward.
