Foreign leaders place importance on relationship with Vietnam

VOV.VN - Leaders from across the world have affirmed their recognition of the importance of the relationship with the nation through extending their congratulations to the Vietnamese Party and State leaders on the 75th anniversary of National Day.

Indian leaders congratulated the nation on successfully taking on the ASEAN Chairmanship and becoming a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, feats which serve to mark the country as an important member of both international and regional communities.

The Indian side note that, since being upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership, the traditional relationship between both nations has been constantly developing and will continue to grow as a means of further consolidating mutual trust and understanding.

In congratulatory messages send to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the Workers’ Party and the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK Kim Jong-un and Premier Kim Tok-hun hailed the traditional friendship between the Parties, Governments, and people of the two countries.

Indeed, they expressed their hope that it will be further promoted in the time to come in line with the spirit of agreements reached by leaders from the two sides during DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un’s official friendly visit to Vietnam in March of last year.

In his congratulatory message sent to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Republic of Korea (RoK) President Moon Jae-in emphasised the great importance of further developing friendship and co-operation ties with the country moving forward.

Elsewhere, United States President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo offered their congratulations to both Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, and the Vietnamese people as a whole.

The US leaders sent a congratulatory message to the country for its recent achievements, especially in terms of the successes and contributions made by the Southeast Asian nation in its role as ASEAN Chair.

They went on to express their elation at the development of the mutual ties, saying that the US wishes to continue working closely alongside Vietnam at the upcoming East Asia Summit in November. The pair therefore expressed confidence that the comprehensive partnership between the two nations will grow and flourish in the future, serving to contribute to promoting peace and prosperity throughout the region.

In a congratulatory message sent to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, French President Emmanuel Macron offered his thanks to the country for providing medical supplies during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. He also affirmed that it remains essential to further deepen the bilateral strategic partnership, noting his hope that the two countries will continue their co-operation at the UNSC and ASEAN.

Furthermore, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen cabled a congratulatory letter to his Vietnamese counterpart PM Phuc, while President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Say Chhum and Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Heng Samrin offered a message of congratulations to Vietnamese National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

In their letters, the Cambodian leaders noted the great value of the fruitful developments of solidarity, friendship, and traditional co-operation between the two Governments, in addition to between the Cambodian Senate and National Assembly and their Vietnamese counterparts. They explained their belief that comprehensive co-operation between the two sides will become increasingly more sustainable and enduring for the sake of citizens from the two countries.

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended their congratulations to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, and PM Phuc, respectively.

Meanwhile, Japanese Emperor Naruhito sent a letter of congratulations to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

In Europe, Italian President Sergio Mattarella cabled a congratulatory message to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, writing that the strategic partnership between the two sides is growing steadily, with evidence for this being seen through Vietnamese support provided to Italy in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Italian President expressed his belief that bilateral relations will further develop, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

Moreover, Canadian Governor-General Julie Payette congratulated the nation on its recent achievements, especially in take on the role of ASEAN Chair 2020.

Governor-General Payette spoke glowingly of co-operation between the two countries at regional and international forums as a way of promoting rules-based order, gender equality, and responding to issues such as the COVID-19 epidemic and climate change. These efforts affirm that Canada will strive to maintain co-operation with Vietnam in bilateral, regional, and international issues in the near future.

Australian Governor-General David Hurley applauded the country for its efforts to successfully promote the agenda of the ASEAN Year 2020 for the benefit of the whole region, despite facing numerous challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The strategic partnership between both sides serves as a solid basis for the two countries to continue expanding collaboration amid the current challenging context. Governor-General Hurley affirmed that his country will work closely with the nation to fast-track post-pandemic recovery, as well as deepening bilateral trade and investment ties.

To mark this occasion, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn, DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Son-gwon, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and RoK Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, all sent congratulatory letters and messages to Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.
