First Vietnam-Qatar political consultation in Hanoi

(VOV) - Vietnam and Qatar held the first political consultation conference in Hanoi on February 11 to discuss specific measures to boost multifaceted cooperation.

Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam congratulated Qatar’s achievements, stating that Vietnam always attaches much importance to strengthening multifaceted cooperation with Qatar.

The Assistant of Qatar’s Foreign Minister, Mohammed Bin Abdullah Bin Mutib Al Rumaihi, in turn, expressed his deep impression on Vietnam’s progress in recent times and believed that the two countries have huge potential to promote economic cooperation.

During the consultation, the two sides discussed specific measures to foster bilateral cooperation, especially in politics, diplomacy, trade, investment and labour cooperation. They agreed to exchange visits, particularly high-level ones and closely coordinate at international forums.

Ministries, departments and businesses from the two countries should strengthen connectivity to raise bilateral trade value and speed up implementation of signed agreements on investment, agriculture, labour cooperation, and human resource development in the coming period, they proposed.

Earlier, Mr Al Rumaihi paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Transport Minister Dinh La Thang and leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
