Ecuador considers Vietnam a strategically important partner in region
VOV.VN - Ecuador regards the nation as a strategically important partner in the region, said Ambassador of Ecuador Arturo Cabrera-Hidalgo.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam hosted a reception on October 25 in the Australian capital of Canberra for Ambassador of Ecuador Arturo Cabrera-Hidalgo.
At the function, the Vietnamese diplomat voiced his hope for stronger collaboration with the South American nation.
He applauded the joint friendship and expressed expectations that the two nations will ramp up co-operation in the areas of trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as work closely with each other at regional and international forums, including the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC).
Ambassador Cabrera-Hidalgo, in turn, hailed the ties of friendship and co-operation between the two countries, emphasizing that Ecuador regards the nation as a strategically important partner in the region and aspires to set up a diplomatic representative office in the country soon.
He added that he has high hopes that both sides will boost collaboration and offer mutual support to become official members of the WCPFC, sharing Ecuador’s experience in tuna fishing co-operation with island nations in the South Pacific.
