Vietnamese leader To Lam assigns tasks to newly appointed ambassadors abroad
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary and President To Lam on October 14 presented appointment decisions to 16 Vietnamese ambassadors to various countries for the 2024-2027 working term.
To Lam congratulated the newly appointed ambassadors, affirming the appointment is both an honour and a significant responsibility entrusted by the Party, State, and people to the diplomats.
He highlighted Vietnam’s rising position internationally, saying the country is actively and responsibly participating in multilateral forums. It is expanding relationships and cooperation in all areas, not only through State-level foreign affairs but also through Party channels and people-to-people diplomacy, and in all areas such as diplomacy, economy, culture, social affairs, security, and defense.
After 79 years of establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, he said the country has recorded significant achievements, but national development has yet to live up to expectations, requiring collective efforts to undertake heavy tasks ahead, including one to turn Vietnam into a high-income industrialized economy by 2045.
In this context, the leader said the responsibilities of the ambassadors encompass all aspects and fields of the country, including diplomacy, economics, culture, defense, security, and the protection of national rights and interests. The ambassadors not only serve as the bridge between Vietnam and foreign countries but also pioneer active deployment of Party guidelines and State policies on foreign affairs.
He urged the newly appointed ambassadors to embody the spirit of ‘self-reliance, confidence, determination, resilience, and national pride’ to further enhance Vietnam’s role and position in global politics, global economy, and human civilization, laying a solid foundation for the country to advance into a new era – the era of national rise.
The newly appointed ambassadors expressed their joy at embarking on their duties during a pivotal time and pledged to contribute to concretizing Vietnam’s foreign policy by promoting cooperative relations with partners, to help further consolidate the country’s position, protect national interests, and develop the country in the new era.
