VOV.VN - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan has held the post of acting State President of Vietnam after the National Assembly approved Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s resignation at an extraordinary session on January 18.

A document to this effect was signed by National Assembly chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.
Xuan will take care of State affairs until the National Assembly elects a new President, according to the communique signed by the chief legislator.
The National Assembly at its extraordinary session in Hanoi on January 18 approved the dismissal of Nguyen Xuan Phuc from his post of State President of Vietnam.
The Party Central Committee, at its extraordinary session on January 17, examined Phuc’s resignation letter and agreed to his request.
