Vietnam, Cambodia strengthen defence cooperation

VOV.VN - The Ministries of National Defence of Vietnam and Cambodia should hold more consultations and increase the sharing of information to promote cooperation between the two armies.

Lieut. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, made the suggestion while receiving Chay Navuth, Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam, and Colonel Rem Kan, Cambodian Military Attaché to Vietnam, in Hanoi on Dec. 21.

Both sides should closely coordinate between their border protection and management forces, maintain joint patrol at sea between the two navies, and strengthen cooperation in personnel training, he said.

According to Lieut. Gen. Chien, the two sides should speed up the search and repatriation of the remains of volunteer Vietnamese martyrs and Vietnamese experts who had laid down their lives during their international missions in Cambodia.

Newly accredited ambassador Chay Navuth said he will try their best during the new working term to accelerate comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, including defence cooperation, in the interest of the two countries’ people, contributing to realizing the goal of successfully building the ASEAN Community, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the rest of the world.
