Two ministers to be grilled about issues of voter concern at NA sitting

VOV.VN - The National Assembly will choose two ministers of the incumbent government for a Q&A session during the current sitting of the legislature in Hanoi, according to Secretary General of the National Assembly Le Quang Tung.

Tung said the National Assembly has issued consultation ballots to lawmakers to gather their opinions on the proposed topics and relevant ministers for the Q&A session. The deputies are asked to select two out of three proposed topics and government officials designated to respond.

The first group of issues will focus on the field of education and training. They will look at the current situation as well as solutions to enhance the quality of higher education, aiming to develop a highly skilled workforce for socio-economic development.

The minister will talk about the enforcement of legal regulations on private tutoring, and measures to ensure a safe, healthy, and friendly educational environment; prevente school violence; and maintain food safety in schools.

The Minister of Education and Training will answer questions, with support from Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, and other ministers in charge of finance, home affairs, health, culture-sports-tourism, science and technology, and public security.

The second group of issues will dwell on finance and economic development. The topic will cover measures to support economic development and growth goals, renew existing growth drivers and identify and promote new ones, and improve the performance of state-owned enterprises.

The minister will present policies to support and promote the private sector as a key driver of the economy, attract foreign direct investment and develop industrial zones and economic zones.

The Minister of Finance will take the floor to answer questions, with support from Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc and minister in charge of industry - trade, agriculture – environment, construction, science - technology, and foreign affairs.

The last group of proposed issues will centre on science, technology and digital transformation. The minister will talk about solutions and policies to accelerate digital transformation in state management and build a digital government; support organisations, enterprises, and citizens to enhance digital skills and fast-track digital transition, and enhance the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in government operations.

The Minister of Science and Technology will answer questions while Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, and other ministers in charge of finance, home affairs, education-training, public security will also take the floor to further clarify issues of voter concern.

The Q&A session is scheduled to last for 1.5 days, from the afternoon of June 19 to the end of June 20. After the two selected ministers respond to questions, the Prime Minister or an authorised Deputy Prime Minister will address additional queries related to the overall governance and operations of the Government.
