Top legislator calls for bold action as Vietnam enters new era of prosperity
VOV.VN - Despite challenges, the 15th National Assembly remains committed to fulfilling its mission and advancing the national development agenda, ensuring Vietnam steps into a new era of prosperity, said National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
The top legislator was delivering closing remarks at the 10th and final session of the 15th National Assembly in Hanoi on December 11.
This session marked a turning point as it passed 51 laws and 39 resolutions, accounting for nearly 30% of all laws and resolutions enacted during the entire term, he said.
The Chairman highlighted the significant achievements of the legislature over the past five years, noting the resilience in addressing numerous challenges. He praised the legislature for completing key legislative and supervisory tasks, despite the difficult circumstances.
“Even amidst hardship, we have delivered on our constitutional responsibilities and contributed decisively to national strategy,” he stated.
Chairman Man emphasised that this final session was not only a review of the National Assembly’s work over the past term but also a pivotal moment to lay the groundwork for the nation’s future development. He highlighted the completion of constitutional amendments and the passage of crucial laws on establishing a socialist rule of law state, anti-corruption efforts, and driving digital transformation and innovation.
The top legislator also underscored the critical role played by lawmakers in providing practical, fundamental solutions to address national challenges. He expressed gratitude for their commitment and contributions to creating a forum for candid and in-depth discussions that centred on the people’s needs and the country's urgent issues.
He called on lawmakers to continue this momentum in the upcoming legislative period, contributing to the sustainable development of the country.
The Chairman also addressed the upcoming national elections for the 16th National Assembly and local People's Councils, scheduled for March next year. He urged all relevant agencies to coordinate closely and ensure that the elections are carried out in a democratic, transparent, and legal manner, with the aim of electing representatives who truly reflect the people's interests.
In his closing speech, Chairman Man stressed that the country’s future growth demands the highest levels of national unity, a shared ambition for development, and the collective strength of the people. He called on all branches of government and lawmakers to continue their hard work and take bold actions for the benefit of the nation.
“We are entering a new era, an era of national rise, striving for a prosperous, thriving, and happy Vietnam. Regardless of position, all National Assembly members should continue to work together for the advancement of our country,” said the Chairman.
At the conclusion of his remarks, Chairman Man extended his sincere thanks to the Vietnamese people and voters for their trust and support. He also expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Communist Party, the cooperation of relevant agencies, and all stakeholders who contributed to the National Assembly’s success.
He believed that, with strong determination, the National Assembly and government would continue to meet key priorities, making a practical contribution to Vietnam’s long-term sustainable development.
