Top leader To Lam outlines key priorities for Presidential Office
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary and State President To Lam chaired a working session with the Presidential Office in Hanoi on May 11 to discuss the office’s key tasks and orientations for the coming period.
Speaking at the meeting, the leader highlighted the important role of the Presidential Office in advising and supporting the President and Vice President in carrying out their duties.
He praised the office’s recent performance, particularly improvements in advisory work, which he said has gradually met the increasing demand of assigned responsibilities while demonstrating professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility.
Emphasising the growing requirements in the current context, the Party chief and President asked the Presidential Office to focus on eight major groups of tasks, with priority given to improving the quality of advisory and support work.
He stressed the need to clearly distinguish the nature of each category of work and ensure all tasks are handled quickly, accurately and without errors.
“Procedural and administrative work must be handled swiftly, accurately and without mistakes. Protocol and logistics work must be professional, thorough, safe and cost-effective. Advisory work must go deeper, with stronger analysis, forecasting and clearer recommendations,” the top leader said.
He also called for more scientific management methods with clear assignment of responsibilities to avoid delays or overlapping duties.
He requested the office to continue improving coordination mechanisms with the Party Central Committee Office and relevant agencies to ensure effective operations within the proper authority framework.
At the same time, he urged a review of organisational functions and job positions to further enhance advisory capacity and accountability.
Party General Secretary and President To Lam particularly stressed the importance of strengthening legal and judicial advisory functions related to matters under the President’s authority.
“These tasks clearly reflect the state legal role of the Presidential Office, including the promulgation of laws and ordinances, amnesty decisions, death sentence commutations, nationality matters, judicial appointments and petitions submitted to the President,” he said.
“All of these issues are directly connected to the Constitution, the law, human rights, citizens’ rights, the strict enforcement of the law and public trust,” he added.
The Party leader and President also asked the Presidential Office to properly assess its role in foreign affairs, accelerate the application of science and technology, promote digital transformation in administrative work and maintain strict information discipline.
He further emphasised the importance of reforming personnel work and strictly enforcing public service discipline in order to improve the overall quality of advisory functions.
