Top leader calls for greater responsibility, moral leadership among Party members
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary and State President To Lam stated that the strength of the Communist Party of Vietnam does not come solely from its policies or organisational structure, but fundamentally from the morality, integrity, and exemplary conduct of each Party member.
He made the remarks during a ceremony in Hanoi on May 19 to award Party membership badges to veteran Party members.
On behalf of Party and State leaders, the leader presented certificates, flowers, and commemorative gifts to 34 senior Party members receiving 80-year, 75-year, and 70-year Party membership badges. He described the ceremony as recognition by the Party of a lifetime of dedication, sacrifice, discipline, and contributions by veteran Party members.
According to the top leader, Party members must live with ideals and responsibility toward the Party, the nation, and the people, while always placing collective interests above personal interests. He stressed the importance of maintaining integrity, discipline, and honour in all actions and professional responsibilities.
The Vietnamese leader highlighted the principle of “setting an example” as a fundamental requirement for Party members, especially senior officials. He noted that the higher a high-ranking official’s position, the greater the responsibility to uphold discipline, morality, and accountability before the people.
From this perspective, he stated that public trust in the Party can only be strengthened when every Party member truly lives with integrity, matches words with actions, and accepts public supervision.
He also emphasised that Hanoi, as the capital city, must continue taking the lead in Party building and in developing a clean and strong political system, as well as in advancing innovation, digital transformation, modern urban governance, and a civilised and cultured society.
According to the General Secretary and State President, the honour of more than 8,500 Party members in Hanoi receiving Party badges during this occasion is inseparable from responsibility. He stressed that revolutionary traditions should continue to be promoted throughout Party organisations and local communities so that people can clearly feel the political system’s closeness, responsiveness, and spirit of service.
Addressing the Party membership badge recipients, the top leader expressed hope that they would continue contributing their prestige, wisdom, and experience, serving as a source of inspiration for younger generations while actively participating in Party building and revolutionary tradition education.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Major General Nguyen Tu, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces, former Party secretary and deputy director of the Military Medical Academy, stated that the Party badge was not only a personal honour but also a milestone marking a long journey of dedication. He affirmed the commitment of veteran Party members to continue upholding the qualities of Party members and contributing to national construction and defence.
