Three more officers join US peacekeeping mission
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Defense on October 22 assigned tasks to three officers who are going to join UN peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and the Central African Republic.
Deputy Minister of Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, handed over the State President’s decision to the three officers.
Addressing the ceremony, Vinh asked the three officers to strengthen unity and mutual assistance in performing tasks in their missions, while protecting themselves from COVID-19 threats, so as to promote the image of Vietnam among international friends.
Amid COVID-19 and security challenges regionally and globally, Vinh expressed hope the three officers will demonstrate knowledge they have acquired to fulfil tasks assigned to them by the Party, the army and the United Nations.
Joining the UN peacekeeping force six years ago, Vietnam has so far sent 53 military officers, including four women, to work at UN peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and the Central African Republic.
