State leaders commemorate late President Ton Duc Thang

VOV.VN - State President Vo Van Thuong and other Vietnamese officials on August 19 paid their tribute to late President Ton Duc Thang at his memorial house in An Giang province to mark his 135th birth anniversary (August 20).

Thuong was joined by former State Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet, Truong Tan Sang and Nguyen Xuan Phuc, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and incumbent secretary of the An Giang provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang.

The leaders offered incense and spent a moment of silence in commemoration of the late President.

They also learned about the life and revolutionary career of the late President through exhibited pictures, and then planted a tree at the Memorial House.

Ton Duc Thang was born in 1888 and died in 1980. During more than 70 years of his revolutionary activities, he had dedicated his whole life to the cause of national liberation, independence and freedom.

He was a shining example of resilient will and revolutionary fighting spirit, striving for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and for people’s well-being.
