Security force told to strictly follow President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings

The six teachings of the late president constitute a unified system of principles and mottos of actions that every police officer, regardless of position, must strive to achieve, General Secretary Trong said at a meeting held in Hanoi to mark 75 years of President Ho Chi Minh’s six teachings for the public security force.

He affirmed that the six teachings remain valid today, particularly as they serve as the blueprint for every police officer in their career by ‘putting the interests of the Party, State and people above all’ in performing the responsibilities and tasks assigned by the Party, State, and people.

The Party leader went on to praise public security forces for having actively grasped, analysed, and forecast the situation over recent years, while having competently implemented the tasks and made recommendations to the Party and State regarding formulating guidelines and policies, perfecting institutions and mobilising resources to protect national interests and maintain political security, social order, and safety.

According to General Secretary Trong, regional and global issues involve both complex and unpredictable developments, thereby requiring the force to have a new vision, new thinking, high political determination, take drastic actions, and keep a cool head to deal with situations.

He asked the force to constantly promote learning and implementation of the late President’s six teachings, a move which will turn them into a daily routine of every police officer and staff. In addition, he said the six teachings must be expressed in concrete actions, with great efforts and political determination, in the spirit of ‘daring to think, daring to do, and daring to take responsibility’.

In his opinions, the public security force must continue to take the lead in implementing the Party building and rectification campaign in which the head of the organisation must set an exemplary role model in comprehensively performing assigned tasks, from political ideology, morality, lifestyle, and behaviour to criticism and self-criticism, relations with the people, and responsibility at work.

Minister of Public Security Gen. To Lam took the floor thanking the Party leader for his directions and affirming that the public security force will absorb and strictly implement his directions.

“The Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Security and the ministry itself will continue to direct the force to effectively study and implement the late President’s six teachings along with promoting learning and following his thoughts, in order to build a truly clean, strong, regular, elite and modern force to well perform the task of protecting national security, and ensuring social order and safety,” said Gen. To Lam.

As part of the occasion, State President Vo Van Thuong on behalf of the Party and State pinned the Fatherland Defense Order, first class, onto the traditional flag of the public security force at the meeting.
