President attends New Year writing ritual at Nguyen Trai Memorial Temple
VOV.VN - State President Vo Van Thuong on February 18 offered incense and took part in a lunar New Year writing ritual at a memorial temple dedicated to National Hero and World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai, in Nhi Khe commune of Hanoi’s Thuong Tin district.
Nguyen Trai (1380 – 1442) was an illustrious Vietnamese Confucian scholar, a noted poet, a skilled politician and a master strategist. He was credited with writing the important political statements of Le Loi and inspiring the Vietnamese populace to support open rebellion against the Ming dynasty rulers. He was also the author of ‘Great Proclamation upon the Pacification of the Wu’.
Marking his 600th birth anniversary in 1980, Nguyen Trai was recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a World Cultural Celebrity. The Hanoi administration also decided to build a memorial temple in Nhi Khe commune, Thuong Tin district, to honour the National Hero and World Cultural Celebrity. The project broke ground on November 14, 2022 and is now entering its final stage.
At the memorial site, President Vo Van Tuuong respectfully offered incense to commemorate Nguyen Trai’s great contributions to the nation. Giving his autograph in the guestbook there, The President affirmed that he would always remember Nguyen Trai’s teachings on the people-based and people-centred ideology. He vowed to make continuous efforts with other Party and State leaders to wholeheartedly serve people, and keep eternal peace.
The President also took part in a New Year writing ritual which has long been maintained as a traditional cultural beauty of the Vietnamese people in early spring. The fine custom conveys wishes for good things, luck, happiness, while upholding people’s tradition of respecting teachers, remembering the nation’s roots, and promoting learning, in order to build Vietnamese human intelligence.
Also in the morning, the president visited and encouraged workers working on the Ring Road 4 project of the Hanoi Capital Region.
