PM pays pre-Tet visit to Phu Yen, presents gifts to workers

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented gifts to workers and families of social policy beneficiaries during a pre-Tet (lunar New Year) visit to the south-central province of Phu Yen on January 8.

He affirmed that building a strong working class is an important task of the Party, the State, the whole political system, workers and the whole society.

According to the PM, workers currently account for 14% of the population and 27% of the labour force that annually generate more than 65% of product value and more than 70% of state budget revenue. Their education and professional qualifications, skills, industrial style, and sense of discipline are increasingly improved and integrated with the world.

The PM was happy to see that when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, most of the workers shared difficulties of businesses and worked along with the whole country to prevent the disease. Moving into the new normal, workers immediately got down to work to help maintain production and supply chain.

He highly appreciated workers overcoming difficulties and recording sound achievements, making an important contribution to post-pandemic economic recovery.

The Government will drastically direct ministries, agencies and localities to pay attention to and allocate appropriate resources to solve fundamental problems in order to improve workers’ lives, he assured.

Priority will be given to implementing a project of building one million social housing apartments for workers nationwide, he said.

On behalf of the Party and State, the PM extended lunar New Year greetings and presented 220 Tet gifts to outstanding workers and families of social policy beneficiaries in Phu Yen.

Vietnamese people will celebrate the lunar New Year (Tet) festival, the biggest of its kind in the country, in less than two weeks' time.
