PM inspects key infrastructure development projects in Da Nang

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 1 inspected some key infrastructure projects in Da Nang during his field trip to the third largest centrally-run city in Vietnam.

He made a call on the reclaimed land area covering approximately 420 hectares near Nguyen Tat Thanh Street which is considered as a potential site for the development of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone. The free trade zone is part of a resolution recently adopted by the National Assembly that offers the city a special mechanism to spur local development.

He then examined the investment in the construction of shared infrastructure for the Lien Chieu port area and the coastal road connecting Lien Chieu port.

Lien Chieu port is a key project for which Da Nang is actively seeking investment. It is also one of Vietnam’s three deep water seaports, planned as a special port that is capable of accommodating general cargo and bulk carriers with a capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes, and container ships with a capacity ranging from 6,000 to 8,000 TEU.

The shared infrastructure project for the Lien Chieu port area has a total investment of VND3.426 trillion. The project broke ground in late 2022 and is expected to be completed by November 2025. So far, 67% of the workload has been completed, meeting the project timeline as planned.

Meanwhile, the coastal road connecting Lien Chieu Port has a total investment of VND1.203 trillion. Construction began in September 2023, and 33% of the workload has been completed.

Talking to contractors, PM Pham Minh Chinh praised contractors for progress made in implementing these projects, and requested local authorities and contractors to exert greater efforts to ensure these projects will be completed before August 30, 2025.

He recommended that Da Nang focus its resources on land acquisition and project progress of the free trade zone, as well as managing resettlement well to ensure the material and spiritual needs of affected residents.
