PM attends Cam Thach mountain school groundbreaking in Thanh Hoa
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 10 attended a groundbreaking ceremony of Cam Thach Primary School in mountainous Cam Thach commune, Thanh Hoa province, as part of a nationwide campaign to build and upgrade schools in mountainous and border regions facing socio-economic difficulties.
The project is of significant importance to education and training, as well as to the socio-economic development of the mountainous commune. The school will be built on an area of more than 11,000 square metres and include a three-storey administration building, a three-storey academic building with 20 classrooms, specialised subject classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, and a three-storey dining and boarding facility fully equipped to serve students.
Cam Thach commune currently has 12 educational institutions serving 5,676 students, including kindergartens, primary schools and lower secondary schools. However, educational infrastructure remains uneven and has yet to fully meet reform requirements.
Across Thanh Hoa province, construction of inter-level boarding schools for primary and lower secondary education is underway, with site clearance completed and construction progress reaching 15–20%. These projects are expected to be completed before August 30, 2026, in line with directives from the Politburo, the Government and the Prime Minister.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh described the project as having profound humanitarian significance, translating the Party’s and State’s policies into concrete action. He praised the determination of Thanh Hoa authorities and the support of the business community in advancing education and improving local training quality.
The PM urged relevant agencies to complete construction before August 31, 2026, so that students can attend the opening ceremony of the new school year on September 5 in their new facilities. He called for streamlined procedures while ensuring compliance with regulations, quality standards and transparency.
He also urged contractors and supervising consultants to accelerate construction efforts to ensure progress, quality, safety and environmental standards. Thanh Hoa province was asked to prioritise resources to complete six inter-level boarding schools launched in 2025 and prepare land for the construction of 10 additional schools.
The Prime Minister encouraged teachers to remain dedicated to their profession, inspiring students not only academically but also morally. He called on students to strive for comprehensive development and pursue their aspirations to contribute to their communities.
