Party Secretariat has new permanent member

VOV.VN - The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam has assigned Politburo member Vo Van Thuong to hold the post of the permanent member of the Party’s Secretariat of the new tenure.

Thuong, 51, was re-elected to the Party’s Political Bureau at the freshly-concluded 13th National Party Congress in Hanoi.

He used to work as the First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Secretary of the Quang Ngai provincial Party Committee, and the Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

He was elected to the Party Central Committee and the Political Bureau at the 12th National Party Congress in 2016. He was assigned to work as a member of the Party Secretariat and head of the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission.

Taking on a new duty, Thuong will succeed Tran Quoc Vuong, permanent member of the Secretariat.

Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong on February 6 handed over the Politburo’s decision to assign the new post to Vo Van Thuong.

Addressing the ceremony, Thuong vowed to work hard to fulfil the task alongside other Party leaders so as to successfully implement resolutions of the 13th Party Congress, Party Central Committee, Political Bureau and Secretariat.

Also at the ceremony, Trong handed over the Politburo’s decision to assign incumbent Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh to the post of head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission.

Tran Tuan Anh was elected to the Political Bureau at the recent 13th National Party Congress.
