Party leader offers incense at Thang Long Imperial Citadel

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on February 4 offered incense at the former Thang Long imperial city in Hanoi in commemoration of King Ly Thai To and his descendants of the Vietnamese nation.

In 1010 King Ly Thai To decided to move the capital of the Vietnamese kingdom from Hoa Lu in the northern province of Ninh Binh to Dai La Citadel also known as Thang Long Citadel in Hanoi today.

The Vietnamese nation has since entered a new era, with successive dynasties expanding their borders and building up a thousand-year history of civilization, culminating in the present-day Ho Chi Minh era.

Party General Secretary Trong and other leaders of Hanoi reported on Vietnam’s development achievements and vowed to build a strong, peaceful, independent and prosperous nation.

On the occasion of the lunar New Year holiday (Tet), General Secretary Trong extended his best wishes to officials and staff of the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center, expecting that they would continue to popularize the historical and cultural values of the heritage site which has been registered as a World Cultural Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
