Party General Secretary pays tribute to President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam on August 31 offered incense in commemoration of President Ho Chi Minh at House No. 48 relic on Hang Ngang street in Hanoi where leader Ho Chi Minh penned the Declaration of Independence in late August 1945.

The Party leader and other officials solemnly paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, the genius leader of the Communist Party and people of Vietnam, a great teacher of the revolution, national liberation hero, and world cultural figure, who devoted his entire life to Vietnam’s revolutionary cause.
They toured the historic site and were briefed on its preserved artifacts and the story of the Declaration of Independence drafted by leader Ho Chi Minh there in late August 1945.
Writing in the guestbook, Party leader To Lam expressed deep emotion during his visit to the historic site, where President Ho Chi Minh once drafted the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 1945.
In this simple room, under a small lamp, leader Ho Chi Minh devoted his intellect, energy, and steadfast faith in the nation’s future to write immortal words affirming before the world the sacred right of independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people.
The entire Party, army and people vow to continue safeguarding and promoting the fruits of the Revolution, building a prosperous and strong Vietnam that stands shoulder to shoulder with friends around the world as President Ho wished, he wrote.
The House, once owned by patriotic entrepreneurs Trinh Van Bo and Hoang Thi Minh Ho, was selected by the Party Central Committee as leader Ho Chi Minh’s residence and workplace upon his return to Hanoi in August 1945. It was the place where Ho Chi Minh and the Party Central Committee made key decisions on domestic and foreign affairs, the provisional government, and the organisation of the National Day.
Most importantly, in a small upstairs room, Ho Chi Minh drafted the Declaration of Independence, which he read at Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
The House was recognised as a National Historical and Cultural Relic in 1979.
Vietnam will hold a grand celebration at Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi, on September 2, to mark the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.
