Party communique on organization restructuring, nuclear power development, personnel
VOV.VN - The Party Central Committee convened its plenum in Hanoi on November 25, discussing the streamlining of the political system’s organizational structure, the resumption of the nuclear power project and personnel affairs, according to a press communique of the plenum.
With regard to the streamlining of the political system’s organizational structure under the Party’s Resolution 18 dated October 25, 2017, the Central Party Committee identified the issue as a particularly important task and a revolution to make the operation of the apparatus more efficient and effective.
It largely agreed on the principles, goals, requirements, and timeline for reviewing Resolution 18, along with some suggestions and directions for the Party committees, organizations, agencies, and units to study and propose arrangements to improve and streamline the organizational structure for effective and efficient operations.
It requested that the Politburo and the Central Steering Committee for reviewing Resolution 18 decide on the restructuring of agencies and organizations that have prepared well-thought-out plans; direct the preparation of the review report; and propose tasks and solutions for restructuring and streamlining the political system’s organizational apparatus, for submission to the 13th Central Party Committee for approval.
Concerning the nuclear power programme in Vietnam, the Party Central Committee agreed on the policy to restart the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project and continue researching the nuclear power programme in the country to ensure national energy security, meet the socio-economic development goals, enhance scientific and technological capacity, and support the country’s sustainable development.
The Politburo was tasked with directing the relevant agencies and localities to research and develop a proposal for nuclear power development in Vietnam in the coming years, while in the short term continuing to study the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant project and report to the competent authorities for review and decision.
During its one-day sitting, the Party Central Committee also gave opinions on personnel for the Politburo to decide on introducing to the 15th National Assembly for approval the positions of Minister of Finance, Minister of Transport; electing members of the Standing Committee, the General Secretary of the National Assembly, and the Head of the National Assembly Office.
The Committee also decided to discipline some senior Party officials for their ideological, political, ethical, and lifestyle decline; serious violations of Party regulations and State laws in carrying out assigned duties, in the fight against corruption; and violations of the regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do, causing very serious consequences.
