Party chief To Lam inspects strategic projects on Hon Khoai Islands
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam on November 19 visited officers and soldiers stationed on Hon Khoai archipelago in southern Ca Mau province, where he also inspected the progress of two key projects.
During the field trip, General Secretary Lam reviewed the progress of a road project connecting the mainland to Hon Khoai Islands and another project to build the dual-use Hon Khoai Port.
Both projects broke ground on August 19 and are expected for completion by 2028. They are expected to create a strong boost for Ca Mau’s strategic infrastructure, serving as a driving force for rapid, sustainable, and comprehensive development in the southernmost region of Vietnam.
General Secretary To Lam emphasised that Ca Mau, project investors, and construction units must work closely together with trust and responsibility, while central ministries and agencies continue to support Ca Mau and project units to ensure timely completion and quality in accordance with regulations and standards.
At a subsequent working session with Ca Mau provincial leaders, General Secretary Lam commended the solidarity, resilience, creativity, and comprehensive achievements of the Party, government, military, and people of the province following the merger and operational organisation of the two-tier local government model.
He noted that the foremost task is to firmly protect the sacred national sovereignty “from early, from afar, and from the roots.” Alongside rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, the implementation of key projects on Hon Khoai underscores the region’s strategic importance and immense development potential.
Hon Khoai is envisioned as the heart and core of Vietnam’s southernmost frontier, helping to promote strategic infrastructure, marine economy, green energy, logistics, and tourism, he stressed.
He urged the Party, government, and people of Ca Mau to continue promoting great national unity, strengthen Party organisations and the political system, and focus on completing political tasks while building a public administration system serving the people.
The General Secretary also called for strict implementation of the Party’s guidelines and resolutions, accelerating institutional innovation, applying science and technology, advancing digital transformation, developing the private sector, and prioritising improvements in citizens’ living standards.
