Party Central Committee discusses vital, complex, sensitive issues

VOV.VN - The Party Central Committee opened its eighth plenum in Hanoi on October 2, examining a number of important, complex and sensitive issues.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered a speech at the opening ceremony which was presided over by State President Vo Van Thuong.

The participating members observed a moment of silence for Party Central Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, who passed away recently, and victims who died in recent natural disasters and fires.

During the week-long sitting, senior members of the Communist Party of Vietnam are scheduled to look into the country’s socio-economic development, state budget in 2023, and plans for 2024; state budget-finance plans for 2024-2026; and a roadmap for implementing the new salary regime.

They will review 10 years of implementing a Party resolution on social policy issues for 2012-2020; 20 years of implementing a Party resolution on bringing into full play the strength of great national unity; 15 years of implementing a Party resolution on building a contingent of intellectuals for the sake of national industrialization and modernization; and 10 years of implementing a Party resolution on the national defense strategy in the new situation.

They will also give opinions and make decisions on the personnel of the coming tenure of the Party Central Committee, as well as other important issues.
