Party and State leaders commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, war martyrs

VOV.VN - A delegation of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, and Fatherland Front laid a wreath at President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs in Hanoi on July 27 marking 76 years of Vietnam War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day.

The delegation was led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Among those attending the ceremony were former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Van An and Nguyen Sinh Hung, alongside many other senior officials and veteran revolutionaries.

In a solemn atmosphere, the leaders respectfully remembered the merits of President Ho Chi Minh and those who sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and national reunification, and for socialism and noble international obligations.

In 1947, President Ho Chi Minh designated July 27 as national War Invalids Day, which was later renamed War Invalids and Martyrs Day, to call on society to honor and support war invalids and martyrs’ families in acknowledgement of their contributions to the nation. Over the years, caring for national contributors and their relatives has been strongly supported by agencies, sectors, and social organizations.

These days, Vietnamese people are carrying out numerous activities to mark the event, including lighting up candles and offering incense at war martyrs cemeteries and presenting gifts to war invalids and children of martyrs.
