Party and State leaders commemorate flood victims in the central region

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam, along with other senior Party and State leaders held a moment of silence to commemorate the victims who lost their lives in the recent historic floods in the central region, at a national conference on Party inspection in Hanoi on November 24.

Other attendees included State President Luong Cuong, Standing Secretary of the Party Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, Politburo members, Party Central Committee secretaries, and leaders of central and local agencies.

Delegates also contributed donations to support the affected communities in overcoming the consequences of the natural disaster.

Preliminary statistics show 91 fatalities, 11 missing persons, tens of thousands of homes flooded or damaged, hundreds of thousands of hectares of crops destroyed, and millions of livestock swept away by the floods.

Following the commemoration, the delegates reviewed Party inspection, supervision, and disciplinary work in 2025 and during the 13th Party Congress term.

According to the report, over the past term, the Politburo, Party Secretariat, and local Party committees have inspected more than 232,000 Party organisations and more than 1.2 million Party members. Among them, 545 Party organisations and 4,213 Party members were found to have violations or shortcomings and were subject to disciplinary action.

Party inspection committees at all levels examined more than 13,000 organisations and over 38,000 Party members suspected of violations, concluding that 8,766 organisations and over 30,000 members had violations, with disciplinary action taken against 827 organisations and 12,371 members.

In his speech, Party General Secretary To Lam noted that the key lesson from the current term is Party building and rectification must be carried out even more diligently during challenging times.

He called on Party committees, organisations, and inspection bodies to focus on five key tasks, including enhancing the quality and impact of inspections and oversight from the grassroots level, leaving no gaps in accountability.

He highlighted the importance of consistent, proactive supervision, early warning systems, and preventive measures to ensure all Party policies and directives are fully and effectively executed.

The General Secretary also called for the establishment of lean, strong, and efficient inspection committees, staffed with principled, professional, and loyal inspectors capable of withstanding pressure or temptation.

He urged the acceleration of digital transformation and IT applications to enable data-driven inspection and supervision, ensuring a transparent and efficient political system.
