National Assembly Standing Committee debates bills in new session

VOV.VN - The National Assembly Standing Committee opened its 46th session in Hanoi on June 3, focusing on legislation debates to prepare for the second phase of the ongoing National Assembly sitting.

Scheduled to run for six working days, key lawmakers will examine revisions of 28 out of 31 draft laws and resolutions that were discussed during the first phase of the National Assembly session, and are expected to be submitted for approval in the second phase.

They will also give first-time opinions on a bill amending and supplementing various provisions in the field of national defence, and a National Assembly resolution on revising or abolishing specific financial management mechanisms and income regulations for state administrative bodies.

They will examine a 2025 proposal for reorganising provincial-level administrative units, and a draft revised Railway Law, to be prepared by the Ministry of Construction in coordination with the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment, following the direction of the Politburo.

The committee will also review and approve seven matters under its jurisdiction, including a revision to Article 10 of the Ordinance on Population, a guiding resolution on the organisation of delegations of National Assembly deputies and People’s Councils after administrative unit restructuring, and four resolutions to implement the amended Law on Organisation of the National Assembly.

It will also agree in principle on resolutions for the reorganisation of commune-level administrative units in 2025.

A notable issue on the agenda is an investment proposal for Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road No. 4 project, which is scheduled to be submitted to the National Assembly in the second phase.

Emphasising the large volume and complexity of the work, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man called on all involved agencies to closely coordinate and prepare thoroughly for bills to be considered and approved at the second phase of the National Assembly sitting.

Each item under review is not only about refining the legal system but also about creating new momentum for national development and ensuring the efficient operation of state institutions in a changing environment, he stressed.
