National Assembly approves two new Deputy Prime Ministers
VOV.VN - The National Assembly on October 25 approved a resolution endorsing the Prime Minister’s proposal to appoint Pham Thi Thanh Tra and Ho Quoc Dung as Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021–2026 tenure.
The resolution was passed with the support of 429 out of 430 deputies present at the ongoing session of the National Assembly.
With the new appointments, the Government of Vietnam now comprises Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and nine Deputy Prime Ministers, namely Nguyen Hoa Binh, Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc, Bui Thanh Son, Nguyen Chi Dung, Mai Van Chinh, Pham Thi Thanh Tra, and Ho Quoc Dung.
The resolution took effect immediately after its adoption on October 25, 2025.
A day earlier, the National Assembly approved separate resolutions to increase the number of Deputy Prime Ministers for the 15th-tenure Government and to relieve several ministers of their duties at the Prime Minister’s request. These included Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra, both of whom were later nominated to new positions.
Pham Thi Thanh Tra, born in 1964 in Nghe An province, holds a master’s degree in educational management and has served as Minister of Home Affairs since 2021. She is a member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committees and a deputy of the 15th National Assembly.
Ho Quoc Dung, born in 1966 in former Binh Dinh province, holds a master’s degree in law and is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee. He has held various senior positions, including Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee, Secretary of the Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, and Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee.
