Leading RoK legislator Park Byeong Seug ends Vietnam visit
VOV.VN - Speaker Park Byeong Seug of the Republic of Korea’s National Assembly and his entourage left Ho Chi Minh City on November 4, concluding a five-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

During his stay, Speaker Park held talks with Chairwoman Ngan, paid a courtesy visit to Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, and met with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. He also visited a number of economic and cultural establishment to explore cooperation opportunities.
Both sides affirmed the strategic cooperation partnership between Vietnam and the RoK has developed strongly since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992. Vietnam and the RoK are each other’s leading partners in various areas.
The RoK remains Vietnam’s largest foreign investor, registering to funnel US$70.2 billion into nearly 9,000 projects in the country. It is the second largest ODA donor and the second largest labour market of Vietnam. Meanwhile, Vietnam is the RoK’s largest economic partner in Southeast Asia.
The two sides agreed to maintain high-level exchanges and contacts at all levels in flexible and appropriate forms in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. They voiced strong support for creating a favourable environment for realizing the dual goal of epidemic prevention and economic recovery, while gradually bringing bilateral cooperation back to normal.
Regarding the East Sea issue, they affirmed the importance of ensuring peace, stability, security, safety, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the sea, and peacefully settling disputes according to international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).
