Exhibition honours legacy of late Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam and other Party and State leaders of Vietnam cut the red ribbon to inaugurate an exhibition honouring the revolutionary journey and profound reform legacy of late Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh on his 110th birth anniversary, in Hanoi on June 29.

Featuring over 200 rare documents, photographs, and artifacts, the exhibition offers an authentic portrayal of the late leader’s lifelong dedication to the revolutionary cause and his pivotal contributions during key periods of Vietnam’s development, from the resistance against colonialism and imperialism to the initiation of the country’s Đổi Mới (Renovation) process.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Le Hoai Trung, Chief of the Party Central Committee’s Office, stated comrade Nguyen Van Linh was a loyal and steadfast Party member, a highly respected leader of the Party, the people, and the military, and an outstanding student of President Ho Chi Minh who dedicated his life to national independence and socialism.

The exhibition is divided into five sections representing the major phases of his life and revolutionary path, namely Hometown, family, and youth (1915–1930); Growth through revolutionary struggle (1931–1945); Alongside the southern people (1946–1975); Searching for a new direction (1976–1986); and Leading the country’s reform era (1986–1996).

Several items are on public display for the first time, including a bicycle used by the leader at the Central Office for South Vietnam before 1970, and a Honda motorbike he gifted to Buddhist nun Dieu Thong, the real-life inspiration for the character Huyen Trang in the popular wartime film Biệt Động Sài Gòn. These personal items not only hold historical value but also reflect his humble and people-centred leadership style.

The exhibition not only vividly portrays a life of revolutionary resilience but also sends a powerful message of patriotism, national pride, and the spirit of renewal that are the values the late Party leader instilled in current and future generations.

“I was deeply moved to see the images of the late Party leader’s life and career. He was a steadfast and creative leader who helped steer the country through difficult times into the new era of development,” said Nguyen Thi Kim Ung, a young visitor from Hung Yen province, which is the late leader’s hometown.

This exhibition is a meaningful opportunity for the entire Party, people, and especially the youth, to revisit the valuable lessons from the late leader’s ideology, ethics, and leadership.
