Deputy PM receives outgoing Thai ambassador
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on September 22 received Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Thani Sangrat who came to bid farewell to the Vietnamese official.
At the reception, Minh highly appreciated the Thai Ambassador’s contributions to strengthening the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership, especially in the fields of trade, investment, people-to-people exchanges, as well as cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
Notably, the two countries have closely coordinated, supported and helped each other in 2019 when Thailand was the Chairman of ASEAN and in 2020 when Vietnam is the Chairman of ASEAN, said Minh.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed Vietnam attaches great importance to and wishes to continue promoting relations with Thailand in all fields in the coming time, especially in 2021 when the two countries will be celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
He recalled his recent phone talks with Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, the Vietnamese side pledged to create conditions for Thai investors, managers and high skilled workers to enter Vietnam, while considering the possibility of resuming commercial flights between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to strive to increase two-way trade turnover to US$20 billion a year and to soon sign a new bilateral labour recruitment agreement.
Ambassador Thani Sangrat thanked Vietnamese ministries, agencies and localities for support and close coordination during his term and affirmed in his new position, he will continue to contribute to the development of a close and trustworthy relationship between the two countries.
