Deputy PM Le Van Thanh passes away at 61

VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh passed away in his house in Hai Phong city after a period of illness, according to a committee in charge of ranking officials’ health.

The Deputy PM passed away in his house in Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong City, at 20:20 on August 22, the committee said in its announcement.

He died after a period of illness despite care and treatment efforts by experienced professors and doctors.

The funeral, memorial and burial services will be announced later by the Party Central Committee.

Thanh was born in 1962 hailing from Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city, He was elected to the Party Central Committee for the 12th and 13th tenures. He was also elected to the National Assembly for the 12th tenure.

He kept several important positions in Hai Phong city before being appointed Deputy Prime Minister in April 2021.

He was tasked with monitoring issues relating to agriculture and rural development, industry and trade, construction, transport, natural resources and environment, and energy conservation, among others.
