VOV.VN - A string of diplomatic, economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges will be jointly held by the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, municipal authorities, and other southern localities in 2022 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam- India diplomatic ties.

This information was revealed by the Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, Madam Mohan Sethi during a press conference held on January 4.

The Indian diplomat hailed the strong development of mutual relations, emphasising that both nations have shared a strong friendship over the last five decades, whilst they have also closely co-operated across a variety of fields in order to bring about a range of practical benefits to their citizens.

He went on to affirmed that Vietnam remains an important partner for India within ASEAN.

According to Sethi, the Indian Consulate General is poised to host 125 trade and investment promotion programmes and exchange events among students and doctors from both sides.

Film screening programmes, exhibitions, workshops on the joint relationship, seminars, and other cultural events will also be planned.
There will be a broad array of tourism promotion activities which will try to lure Indian tourists to popular Vietnamese destinations such Nha Trang, Vung Tau, and Phu Quoc.

Sethi pledged his best efforts to reinforce the friendship between 29 southern Vietnamese localities and Indian localities, whilst also expanding trade ties between the two countries’ provinces towards elevating their two-way trade to US$14 billion in the near future.

Indian partners will also ramp up co-operation with Ho Chi Minh City in investment promotion, doctor training, and exchanges. This will be done alongside augmenting medical co-operation with Ninh Thuan province, helping Tay Ninh train gifted students, and providing English training courses for officials of Kien Giang province, he said.
