Vinh Long and Banteay Meanchey ink new MoU on cooperation
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s southern province of Vinh Long and Cambodia’s north-western province of Banteay Meanchey have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation for the 2025-2029 period.
The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee on January 16 during a Lunar New Year visit to Vinh Long by the leadership of Banteay Meanchey.
Since 2012 Banteay Meanchey and Vinh Long have inked MoUs to promote cooperation through regular exchanges of delegations to share experience in development and management, state apparatus streamlining, digital transformation, agriculture, and industry.
Their cooperation programmes have been successfully implemented, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both sides.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Oum Reatrey, governor of Banteay Meanchey, affirmed that the friendship and cooperation between the two provinces have proven effective over time. He expressed a desire to further deepen this partnership moving forward.
The newly signed MoU focuses on continued cooperation in agriculture, trade, and tourism services. It encourages favourable conditions to be created for businesspeople from both sides to engage in production, expand markets, and foster investment cooperation to maximize their economic potential.
Both parties will support each other in education and training, as well as in the application of modern science and technology in agriculture.
The MoU aims to strengthen the friendly cooperation between the governments of the two provinces, facilitate connections among relevant agencies and sectors, and address other matters in line with the capabilities and needs of each side.
According to Lu Quang Ngoi, head of the Vinh Long administration, the document will serve as a foundation for both sides to effectively implement future cooperation programmes across areas of mutual interest, such as agriculture, trade, education - training, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between women and youth of the two provinces, among other sectors.
