Vietnam retains leading position among investors in Cambodia
VOV.VN - Vietnam poured approximately US$550 million into Cambodian projects last year, maintaining its position among the top countries investing in the market, reported the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
The value accounted for 8.1% of the approved projects in the country, making Vietnam come third after China and Cambodian investors both locally and internationally.
In terms of foreign direct investment (FDI) from various countries, Vietnam ranked second after China and was the leading ASEAN country investing in Cambodia, surpassing nations like Singapore and Malaysia. Its investment in Cambodia also outperformed major investors such as Japan, the Republic of Korea, the US, and the UK.
With this impressive performance, Vietnam’s cumulative active investment in Cambodia has reached approximately US$3.5 billion, retaining top position among ASEAN countries and placing it among the top five foreign investors in the country.
Vietnam’s investments are primarily in agriculture, finance, banking, insurance, and telecommunications, significantly contributing to the socio-economic development, improving living standards, boosting government revenues, enhancing infrastructure, and creating tens of thousands of jobs for Cambodian workers.
