Vietnamese PM arrives in Dubai for COP28, bilateral meetings in UAE
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, on November 30 evening, beginning his working trip to the UAE and attending the World Climate Summit as part of the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28).
The PM was welcomed at the airport by representatives of the COP28 Organizing Committee, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE Nguyen Manh Tuan, and Vietnamese expatriates in the UAE.
During his stay from November 30 to December 4, the PM will attend and deliver speeches important conferences, forums, and panel discussions within the framework of COP28. He will also have meetings with leaders of countries and international organizations, along with other bilateral activities in the UAE.
The PM’s participation in COP28 sends a strong message to international friends about Vietnam’s proactive, positive, and responsible engagement in handling climate change - one of the biggest and most common global challenges. It affirms Vietnam’s role and position in regional and international cooperation frameworks, as well as its consistent policy on building a green economy and circular economy.
Relations between Vietnam and the UAE have developed positively since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1993. Both sides regularly exchange delegations and support each other at international forums and organizations.
The UAE is Vietnam’s leading trade and investment partner in the Middle East, with two-way turnover reaching approximately US$5 billion annually. The UAE is one of the major investors in Vietnam, with 38 projects getting underway. Vietnam currently has about 4,500 workers working in the UAE.
