Vietnamese leader To Lam meets Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni in France
VOV.VN - General Secretary and President To Lam of Vietnam met King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia on the sidelines of the 19th Francophonie Summit in Paris, France, on October 5.
To Lam congratulated Cambodia on the significant achievements it has made over the past 20 years under the reign of the King, and expressed his belief that Cambodia will continue to record even more important and comprehensive gains, helping to improve quality of life for its people and elevate its status internationally.
He also congratulated Cambodia on being entrusted to host the 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026, and affirmed Vietnam’s support for Cambodia in successfully organizing this important event.
To Lam appreciated Cambodia’s support to help Vietnam overcome the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi. He emphasized that Vietnam always values the historical significance of the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship and the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam ties. He assured that Vietnam will continue to coordinate with Cambodia and Laos to make the trilateral cooperation increasingly substantial and effective, meeting the practical needs of all three countries.
King Norodom Sihamoni for his part conveyed the regards from the Queen Mother to To Lam, and thanked Vietnam for its unwavering support and trust in Cambodia on its path of socio-economic, cultural, educational, and scientific development.
Both leaders expressed joy at the achievements of the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia in recent times. They agreed that this relationship should be preserved and promoted to meet the requirements of the new development phase.
