Vietnam willing to assist Cuba in any circumstances, says top legislator

VOV.VN - Vietnam stands shoulder to shoulder with and stays willing to provide assistance to Cuba in any circumstances within its capacity, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue told a Cuban official in Hanoi.

Receiving Teresa María Amarelle Boué, secretary general of the Cuban Women's Union (CUW) on May 12, Hue recalled his successful visit to Cuba in April 2023 and said both sides are now working on the documents signed during the visit.

Vietnam always attaches importance to promoting its special relationship with Cuba, and it believes Cuba will record greater achievements in the cause of national construction and development, said the Vietnamese legislator.

He affirmed that the National Assembly of Vietnam supports cooperation between women unions of the two countries and expected that the two women organisations would strengthen cooperation at regional and international forums, especially at the Women’s International Democratic Federation (WIDF) of which both countries are members.

Teresa María Amarelle Boué for her part briefed her host on the results of her working sessions with relevant Vietnamese organisations and agencies including the Vietnam Women’s Union and the group of female Vietnamese parliamentarians.

She pointed out that there is still a gender equality gap in several fields, especially in economy, and proposed that Vietnam share its practical experience in creating conditions for women to engage more in economic activities.

The two sides still have great room to further expand cooperation in protecting and executing lawful and legitimate rights for the sake of women’s advancement, she said.
