President Luong Cuong made the remarks during a reception in Hanoi on December 29 for outgoing Cambodian Ambassador Chea Kimtha.

President Cuong expressed his delight at Cambodia’s significant achievements in national development and affirmed his confidence that, under the leadership of the King and the Cambodian People’s Party, the country would continue to achieve comprehensive progress toward peace, stability, and prosperity.

He highlighted positive developments in bilateral relations, noting that party-to-party ties provide strategic guidance; defence and security cooperation remains a cornerstone; economic relations have achieved solid growth; and collaboration in education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges continues to strengthen, enhancing mutual understanding and lasting bonds between the two peoples.

The President also emphasised the importance of educating younger generations about the historical significance of Vietnam–Cambodia relations, contributing to a long-lasting and sustainable friendship.

He welcomed recent positive developments in managing the Cambodia–Thailand border conflict, applauding the two countries’ joint declaration on ceasefire and tension reduction measures. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to creating favourable conditions for stable and sustainable bilateral relations.

In response, Ambassador Chea Kimtha thanked President Cuong and other Vietnamese leaders for their support during her tenure.
