Vietnam urges restraint amid rising US–Iran tensions

VOV.VN - Vietnam is closely monitoring recent developments in the Middle East and has called on all parties to exercise restraint, avoid escalating tensions and resolve differences through peaceful means, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang said.

Responding to questions about the recent tensions between the United States and Iran, Hang said Vietnam urges relevant parties to strictly abide by international law and the United Nations Charter, respect sovereignty and territorial integrity, refrain from the use or threat of force, and create favourable conditions for peace negotiations in the interest of regional and global peace and stability.

Regarding citizen protection, Hang said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 15 issued a travel advisory recommending that Vietnamese citizens refrain from travelling to Iran unless absolutely necessary.

Vietnamese nationals currently in Iran are advised to closely follow local developments, comply with host-country regulations on movement, and heed warnings issued by Vietnamese authorities, she added.

For assistance, Vietnamese citizens in Iran can contact the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran via +989339658252 or +989912057570, or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ citizen protection hotline at +84 981848484.
