Vietnam urges objective US assessment of intellectual property protection efforts
VOV.VN - Vietnam has called on the United States to provide an objective and balanced assessment of its intellectual property (IP) protection efforts after Washington designated the country as a “priority foreign country” in its latest annual report on global IP protection and enforcement.
“In recent years, Vietnam has made significant efforts to strengthen intellectual property protection, including improving its legal framework, raising public awareness, enhancing international cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the United States and other countries, and strictly handling IP violations,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said in reponse to reporters’ questions on May 1.
She emphasised that protecting intellectual property is both a top priority and a consistent policy of Vietnam, aimed at building a transparent and healthy business environment and supporting a growth model driven by science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
“We request that the United States provide an objective and balanced assessment of Vietnam’s efforts and achievements in intellectual property protection,” she added.
According to the spokesperson, Vietnam is maintaining active and effective cooperation with the United States in this area, and stands ready to share information and clarify its policies and regulations.
“Both sides should continue to closely coordinate to address differences in a satisfactory manner, for the benefit of both countries, and towards building a stable, balanced and sustainable framework for economic and trade cooperation,” she said.
