Vietnam treasures cooperative ties with Ukraine, says NA leader
VOV.VN - Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Ukraine, said National Assembly chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
Hue was speaking while meeting Deputy Speaker of the Supreme Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniyenko, in Cambodia on November 22, on the sidelines of the 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-43)
The two leaders said that, despite the COVID-19 impact, bilateral economic and trade cooperation continued to yield important results, while the 15th session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic - Trade and Scientific - Technical Cooperation was successfully held.
They hoped that in the coming time, the two sides would further strengthen the cooperative relations between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the Supreme Council of Ukraine, meeting practical interests of the two countries.
Discussing the current conflict in Ukraine, Hue affirmed that disputes should be resolved by peaceful means, in accordance with basic principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations;
We do hope relevant parties will soon put an end to the conflict and resume dialogue, he said.
Hue thanked Ukraine for supporting the safe evacuation of Vietnamese citizens in Ukraine, and announced Vietnam’s decision to provide humanitarian assistance worth US$500,000 to Ukrainians through the Red Cross Society and the United Nations.
Vietnam is willing to cooperate and participate in reconstruction of Ukraine later, he told the Ukrainian legislator.
